The central facilities, which include a central electronics shop, central materials facility and central machines shop, support the research activities within Texas A&M at Qatar, as well as provide technical services to industry, government and academic partners. Texas A&M at Qatar facilities provide materials and services including printed circuit board prototyping, electronic solutions, material characterization and machining.
To provide technically competent service for all customers of the central facilities, Texas A&M at Qatar has developed a Quality Management System (QMS) to meet the requirements of International Standard ISO 9001:2015. Staff and faculty implemented QMS to formalize best practices and to ensure superior quality for customers and clients.

The Central Electronics Workshop is ISO 9001:2015 certified and provides services in the form of repair, construction and prototyping of electronic items to support all departments of Texas A&M at Qatar and to provide professional services for industry. Services include PCB fabrication and masking, professional soldering of electronic components, setup and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic equipment, supporting industrial automation solutions, LabVIEW programming, and various training capabilities. The workshop consists of multiple workstations equipped with the necessary measurements and testing devices such as soldering stations, measurement and testing equipment and various tools that are used for electronics. Moreover, the shop includes the latest technology of PCB prototyping machines to produce multilayer printed circuit boards, of up to eight layers.

Texas A&M University at Qatar’s state of the art machine shop which is ISO 9001:2015 certified offers prototype, production and R&D machining utilizing CNC and manual machines. Texas A&M at Qatar’s machine shop has more than 20 years of experience in the petroleum, aerospace and educational industries combined. The Texas A&M at Qatar machine shop services can be provided in a variety of material including polymer, stainless steel, aluminium, alloy and carbon, magnesium, titanium, and super alloys. The state-of-the-art CNC machines include CNC lathes that have live tooling and 5-axis milling capabilities. The use of MasterCam X5 allows the control of the CNC equipment to produce highly accurate machined components.

Texas A&M at Qatar’s Fuel Characterization Lab is ISO 9001:2015 certified, and is built to built to support both research and teaching activities in the area of fuels and value-added chemicals formulation and characterization. This laboratory is currently used for the development of future generations of synthetic fuels obtained from natural gas via the gas-to-liquid technology. This lab is equipped with advanced analytical equipment to measure both physical and chemical properties of fuels and value-added chemicals. It also equipped with number of advanced gas chromatographs that are capable of identifying chemicals composition of all species existing in fuels. Furthermore, this lab equipped with necessary blending accessories to formulate new generations of fuels. The work conducted in this lab adheres to a sophisticated data control quality system and safety regulations, developed with the support of our industry partners. This system ensures equipment, testing procedures and data recording comply with industry and international standards of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). This lab hosts number of projects representing unique collaboration between world-leading companies in fuels and engine manufacturing and academic institutions around the globe.

Texas A&M has more than 6,000 square feet of world-class water and environmental research laboratories that are continuously upgraded and expanded. Our water and environmental research laboratories are ISO 9001:2015 certified, and contain a wide range of state-of-the-art analytical equipment. Laboratory analytical capabilities include all inorganic, organic and physical parameter testing of samples with a variety of matrices, including water, wastewater, soils and sludges. The laboratories maintain comprehensive quality assurance and quality control programs. The sources of analytical procedures include, but are not limited to, USEPA methods, standard methods for the examination of water and wastewater (APHA), and ASTM methods. A set of standard operating procedures is available for each of the laboratory areas and contain clear, complete written instructions for completing each standard test performed by lab personnel.
The laboratories include well-trained and highly qualified staff and state-of-the-art lab facilities. In addition to analytical equipment, these facilities include constant temperature rooms, chemical storage, autoclaves, cold storage, anaerobic chambers, laminar flow benches, exhaust hoods, ovens, furnaces, etc. With current R&D water and environmental research and technical service projects worth more than $10 million, the research team builds upon a strong scientific and technological base related to the sustainable utilization of water and environment of direct relevance to Qatar.

3-D printing is changing and impacting the way we conduct our day-to-day lives. It was with this understanding that Texas A&M at Qatar established its unique 3-D printing facility in August 2007. This 3-D printing facility is ISO 9001:2015 certified, and allows designers, researchers and engineers from all disciplines to step beyond the virtual barriers and interact with a real-world objects. To satisfy its internal and external customers’ prototyping and manufacturing needs, the facility houses a total of eight 3-D printers, which can print in materials ranging from titanium to different grades of plastics. The facility is mainly used to manufacture functional parts and prototypes, of complex geometry, that are otherwise harder to manufacture through conventional manufacturing methods. The facility also has a 3-D surface scanner in place to scan any three-dimensional object and create replicas or 3-D models instantly. Different software packages in the facility allow the pre-processing and post-processing of CAD files to perform quality control on newly printed parts or reverse engineering on currently existing parts.
